Tuesday We travel to Scotland and our hotel for one night, the Golden Lion in central Stirling.
Wednesday Great scenery all day as we travel through the Highlands, Cairngorms and Speyside and on to Inverness where we make a lunch time stop. Inverness is the ‘Highland Capital’ on the banks of the River Ness and it boasts a host of historic buildings and independent shopping. More loch views as we continue to Ullapool to catch our late afternoon crossing from Ullapool to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, our base for the next two nights at the Caladh Inn.
Thursday A wonderful, guided tour around the Isle of Lewis, with a local guide. We view amazing scenery as well as visit a traditional Blackhouse, amazingly still lived in until recently, “Scotland’s Stonehenge” at Callanish and an historic “Broch” at Carloway.
Friday A day of island-hopping when we travel south through Lewis and Harris, with magnificent beaches and scenery throughout. We continue by ferry to the Isle of Benbecula and our base for the next two nights staying at the Dark Island Hotel in Liniclate.
Saturday We have a local guide on board for our tour of Benbecula and South Uist with its Bonnie Prince Charlie connections.
Sunday A long but rewarding day today as we catch the ferry from Lochmaddy to Uig on the northern tip of the Isle of Skye. We then take a wonderful, scenic journey across Skye, cross Skye Bridge, view Ben Nevis and pass through Glencoe, and on to our overnight stop at the Rob Roy Hotel in Aberfoyle.
Monday This Scottish odyssey ends with the journey south.
