This is a great opportunity to stay in a landmark Chester hotel with a roll call of famous guests including Charles Dickens! The hotel opened in 1860 and has recently had a £5m refurbishment of its public areas. Chester is a great city, which we have time to explore, and we also have two very different days out, one to the Isle of Anglesey and the other to the fabulous Waterside in Liverpool. The hotel offers a glass of wine with dinner on the first and last evening and also treats us to a cream tea one afternoon.
Monday We head north with a lunch time stop at Trentham Shopping Village and Garden Centre.
Tours at Resort
A | We spend the day in Liverpool where we are dropped at the rejuvenated Waterfront which is shrouded in both history and beauty. Its home to iconic buildings such as the Liver Building and famous Royal Albert Dock. There is also The Beatles Story and the famous Ferry Across the Mersey (entry not included). Plus, shopping nearby at One Liverpool.
B | A free day to explore Chester and in the afternoon enjoy a cream tea back at the hotel.
C | Scenic tour of the Isle of Anglesey with its stunning landscapes, unspoilt coastlines and picturesque towns and villages. Following a quick stop at Llanfair PG (the longest placename in Britain!) we take a circular tour of the island including a photo stop overlooking Bull Bay. We pass through Llanfachraeth, Cemaes Bay & Amlwch on the way to our stop in Beaumaris, a beautifully positioned resort of Victorian character.
Friday We return with a stop in Ironbridge Gorge, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has a thriving tourist trade not to mention the world-famous iron bridge itself, majestic over the River Severn.
