THE JACOBITE IS THE "HOGWARTS EXPRESS" IN THE HARRY POTTER FILMS!
We step into a world of breathtaking beauty on the legendary Jacobite Steam Train—hailed as the greatest railway journey in the world. This unforgettable trip winds its way past a series of natural wonders and landmarks on its way through the wild heart of the Highlands to Arisaig. Glide past the glassy depths of Loch Morar, Britain’s deepest freshwater loch, and cross the River Morar—its shortest river. The adventure doesn’t stop there, we’ll also cruise the legendary waters of Loch Ness, keeping an eye out for its elusive resident, and explore the dramatic landscapes that make the Highlands so iconic. From the towering peaks of the Cairngorms National Park on our way north, to the tranquil beauty of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs on our return, every mile is a scenic delight.
Tuesday We begin our journey north with an overnight stay at the charming 3-star Shap Wells Hotel, nestled among mountain streams and peaceful countryside—an ideal start to our scenic adventure.
Wednesday Crossing into Scotland, we stop for lunch in Stirling, a vibrant city steeped in history and legend. From here, we journey through the Cairngorms National Park, enjoying spectacular Highland scenery. A short stop in Pitlochry, known for its fresh air and rich clan heritage, adds to the day’s charm before we arrive in Fort William for a 4-night stay.
Thursday All aboard the world-famous Jacobite Steam Train for a magical return journey to Mallaig. Travel the route made famous by the 'Hogwarts Express' in the Harry Potter films, crossing the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct and passing Ben Nevis, Loch Morar, and stunning coastal views. We enjoy free time in the fishing village of Mallaig before the return leg.
Friday We visit Fort Augustus, where the Caledonian Canal meets Loch Ness. After free time to explore, we board a relaxing 1-hour cruise on the loch, with views of Urquhart Castle—and maybe even a glimpse of Nessie!
Saturday Today we head into the northern Cairngorms, stopping in the lively town of Aviemore. We return to Fort William with time to relax or explore at leisure.
Sunday Our return south takes a different scenic route, with highlights including a stop in the dramatic Glencoe Valley and time at Loch Lomond Shores—perfect for shopping, dining, or
a peaceful lochside walk. We return to the Shap Wells Hotel for our final overnight stay.
Monday Before heading home, we enjoy free time in Bownesson-Windermere, followed by a scenic drive along the shores of Lake Windermere—a perfect end to a memorable holiday.
