Friars Court Garden Tour & Cream Tea

plus Costwold Drive & Bourton-on-the-Water

We embark on a scenic tour of the Cotwolds including a stop in Bourton-on-the-Water before arriving at Friars Court in Clanfield, a 17th century part-moated farmhouse set in six hundred acres of countryside.

We have a private visit and our host, Charles Willmer, will take everyone on an informative, 45 minute, guided tour around the grounds. The route follows a level path, which is suitable for wheelchair users, and along the way Charles talks about the history of his home, the development of the gardens and the conservation work carried out on the farm. After the tour visitors may continue to wander and explore the grounds at leisure or simply sit, relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the gardens.

In the Coach House museum visitors can see some of the Roman and mediaeval artefacts recovered from the land, photographs spanning 100 years and learn about the history of Friars Court.

After the tour we enjoy a traditional home-baked cream tea comprising of scones with strawberry jam & whipped cream, lemon drizzle cake, tea & coffee served in the spacious Garden Room with views over a lawn and herbaceous borders.
