A | We begin our day at the awe-inspiring Kelpies, the world’s largest equine sculptures, standing 30 metres tall. These monumental steel statues pay tribute to the horsepower that once powered Scotland’s early industries. During our visit, we enjoy a 30-minute guided tour, offering fascinating insights into their creation and cultural significance. In the afternoon, we experience the incredible Falkirk Wheel with a scenic boat ride. This world-first rotating boat lift, completed in 1998, connects the Forth & Clyde and Union Canals, replacing 11 traditional locks. Rising an impressive 35 metres and constructed from 1,200 tonnes of steel, it’s a true marvel of modern engineering and one of Scotland’s top attractions.
B | New Lanark is a remarkable testament to 18th-century vision and 21st-century sustainability. This beautifully preserved village pioneered progressive ideas in philanthropy, education, and worker welfare, becoming a model for industrial communities across the world. Today, it remains a living, working village, producing its own hydroelectric power, spinning yarn, and even crafting its own delicious ice cream. We have a private guided tour as we explore the millworkers’ homes, step inside the historic cotton mills, and wander through Scotland’s largest rooftop garden. New Lanark treasures the past, embraces the present, and inspires a sustainable future—an unforgettable blend of heritage and heart.
C | To Edinburgh for a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia to follow in the footsteps of Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela plus many more including the Queen! The remainder of the day is free to explore Edinburgh.
