Lakes & Dales from the Seaside

Sunday We travel north to our hotel, pausing for a relaxing break at the Trentham Shopping Centre—a perfect spot to stretch your legs and browse the shops.

Monday Today, the Yorkshire Dales beckon. We journey via the scenic Lune Valley into the Pennine Mountains, passing through beautiful, remote countryside to reach Hawes in Wensleydale. Here, enjoy a demonstration and tasting at the renowned Wensleydale Cheese Shop. Afterwards, we continue through more stunning Dales scenery to Skipton, where we take a leisurely hour-long canal cruise, complete with entertaining commentary.

Tuesday A FREE DAY to explore Morecambe at your own pace, or perhaps hop on a local bus to discover the historic city of Lancaster.

Wednesday We venture into the southern Lake District for a scenic boat ride from Lakeside at the southern tip of Windermere to Bowness. There’s time to explore Bowness before our afternoon visit to Holker Hall & Gardens, set in magnificent countryside with gardens that blend seamlessly into parkland, framed by the Lakeland hills. In the evening we have an early dinner allowing us to view Blackpool illuminations in the evening.

Thursday Today, we head into the northern lakes, taking in views of seven different lakes! We pass Rydal, Grasmere, and Thirlmere en route to our lunchtime stop in Keswick, beautifully set near Derwent Water. On our return, we enjoy views of Ullswater and Brothers Water before a dramatic drive over the Kirkstone Pass.

Friday We begin our journey home, stopping at the famous Bury Market—previously voted the ‘best market in the UK’, before continuing south.
