Tour highlights: Waterford Crystal, Mount Congreve Gardens, Galway, Cliffs of Moher, Foynes Flying Boat Museum & The Burren Visitors Centre, and a Smokehouse for a Masterclass including lunch!
Unwind and enjoy the endless, beautiful scenery and excellent hospitality of our neighbours across the sea in the Republic of Ireland, a land full of charm, contrasting beauty and natural scenic wonder. We stay in two different areas and use two different ferry routes and there are lots of included entries to make this an unforgettable round trip. We spend our final evening of the tour in North Wales, which allows a relaxing final day of the holiday as we make a scenic drive through Wales. There is entertainment for one night at both main hotels!
Saturday We journey through Pembrokeshire for our ferry to Rosslare, then continue to Waterford. Settle in for three nights at the welcoming 3-star Dooley’s Hotel, where a complimentary drink awaits.
Sunday Enjoy a free day in Ireland’s oldest city, rich in medieval charm. Included is a visit to the world-famous Waterford Crystal Factory, just a short walk from the hotel.
Fancy a seaside escape? Perhaps hop on a local bus to the nearby resort town of Tramore.
Monday We visit scenic Cahir, home to one of Ireland’s largest and best-preserved castles (entry not included). Later, stroll through the stunning Mount Congreve Gardens—70 acres of woodland, a walled garden, and thousands of rare plants in bloom.
Tuesday Crossing to Ireland’s west coast, we stop at the fascinating Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum, capturing the golden age of aviation. Then it’s on to the 4-star Falls Hotel in Ennistymon for a three-night stay, we are met with a welcome drink.
Wednesday We call at the Burren Visitor’s Centre for an introduction to the Burren, a large limestone cap with lunar landscapes, stretching for miles, which is an anomaly in the Irish landscape and home to all manner of flora and fauna. We then embark on a tour of the Burren which includes a lunchtime stop at Burren Smokehouse where we are given a masterclass in how salmon is smoked and how it tastes! We also have included a soup and sandwich lunch. Later we visit the renowned Cliffs of Moher and stand n awe at the sheer might of the Atlan-tic Ocean, which over hundreds of years has carved the 230-metrehigh cliffs which are some of the highest in Europe.
Friday A relaxing journey to Dublin for our afternoon crossing to Holyhead and on to our overnight hotel in North Wales, the 4-star Hilton Garden Inn, Snowdonia.
Saturday We drive through Wales enjoying the scenery and make a lunchtime stop in Welshpool which has main streets lined with fine Georgian buildings.
