Includes Local Guide for tour of Peaks, World of Wedgewood, Hat Works, Stockport Air Raid Shelter, Tea and Scones on arrival and a Gala Dinner!
Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa is an elegant Georgian country house set in 262 acres of its own grounds on the edge of the Peak District. It really is an exquisite hotel and comes with full leisure facilities. We have 3 included entries to add in to this great value and on the final day we have a local guide on board for a tour of the Peak District. The hotel also provided us with Tea and Scones on arrival, a Gala Dinner on one evening and entertainment on 2 other nights.
Sunday We travel north and make a lunchtime stop at Trentham Shopping Village
Monday Today we head to Stockport to visit some of the town’s hidden treasures. First stop today is the award winning Hat Works, which focuses on the industry’s development from its humble beginnings as a cottage industry to the mass production of the early 19th century. Then on to the Air Raid Shelters which brings to life the sights and sounds of Britain’s Home Front during WWII, within the labyrinth of tunnels and shelters carved into the cliffs in the town centre.
Tuesday The highlight of the tour for some will be enjoyed today at the World of Wedgwood, with a self-guided factory and museum tour. Visitors cannot fail to be impressed by this wonderful modern interpretation of Wedgwood’s 250 years’ heritage in the ceramics industry.
Wednesday We enjoy a full day guided tour of the Peak District. The local guide will show us the very best that the area has to offer.
Thursday We return home with a lunch break in Shrewsbury, full of higgledy-piggledy streets in the middle of a loop in the River Severn.
