Monday We take the ferry from Fishguard to Rosslare and continue towards central Ireland and our hotel in Portlaoise.
Tuesday We make the short journey to Cashel where you have the choice between visiting the town or the Rock of Cashel on the outskirts of the town (admission not included). The Rock of Cashel is a spectacular group of medieval buildings on an outcrop of limestone, with great views. We return early afternoon to experience St Patrick’s day in our town of Portlaoise.
Wednesday We spend the day in Dublin where you are free to explore. Maybe visit the home of a monumental Irish success story, The Guinness Storehouse which is a 7-storey visitor experience dedicated to Ireland’s world-famous stout, and has itself become Ireland’s most popular visitor attraction with over a million visitors a year (entry not included).
Thursday All day in Kilkenny, Ireland’s Medieval Capital. It has a mixture of rich cultural heritage, beautiful street-scapes and great shopping to offer. Today is also the Farmer’s Market with stalls selling a wide variety of produce.
Friday The holiday is not over as we head into the Wicklow Mountains National Park and visit Glendalough. For thousands of years people have been drawn here for its spectacular scenery, rich history and abundant wildlife. We then continue to Wexford for a short stop before catching our evening ferry back to Fishguard. We return to the Swindon area after midnight.
